MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power), the sole power distributor in Iloilo City, has announced its readiness to provide stable and reliable electricity for the Dinagyang Festival, scheduled from 24 to 26 January 2025.

To meet the anticipated surge in power demand during the festivities, MORE Power has rolled out a comprehensive contingency plan, which includes preventive maintenance and on-call response teams.

“We have a comprehensive contingency plan in place, including preventive maintenance and dedicated response teams, to address any potential power-related issues during the festival,” said MORE Power president and CEO Roel Castro.

Preventive maintenance activities, which began on 22 January and will continue until 25 January, include:

  • Tree trimming: Clearing feeder lines to prevent outages caused by overhanging branches.

  • Equipment checks: Inspecting Automatic Circuit Reclosers (ACR) and Load Break Switches (LBS) to ensure functionality.

  • Feeder loading monitoring: Ensuring balanced power distribution to avoid overloading and service interruptions.

In addition to maintenance, MORE Power has mobilized a dedicated workforce, comprising regular employees and contractors, to support the initiative. Response teams will be strategically deployed at critical festival sites, including:

  • Freedom Grandstand

  • Capitol Grounds

  • Food Festival Area

  • Delgado-Mabini-Quezon-Ledesma Streets

  • SM-San Rafael-Megaworld Area

  • Megaworld Substation Control Center

Festival-goers can visit the MORE Power booth along Delgado-Valeria Street, near Mercury Drug, for assistance and inquiries.

To address potential power interruptions, response teams will remain on standby across all festival zones, supported by a 24/7 helpline operational throughout the event. Helpline officers will work in three shifts to ensure continuous service.

MORE Power’s warehouse will also remain open on 25 and 26 January to provide logistical support. Line and response teams will work on a rotational schedule to maintain uninterrupted coverage during all critical periods.

“With these measures, we aim to ensure that everyone can enjoy the Dinagyang celebrations without worrying about power outages,” Castro said.

MORE Power’s efforts underscore its commitment to providing reliable energy and supporting the success of one of Iloilo City’s most anticipated festivals.
