Justice Undersecretary Raul T. Vasquez touted the improvement in conviction rates in the country, driven by reforms like Department Circular 015, which speeds up investigations for lesser crimes.

Vasquez also touched on the Department of Justice’s (DoJ) efforts at jail decongestion, human rights, and tackling online sexual abuse and human trafficking. The department said it has maintained a Tier 1 ranking in the US Trafficking in Persons Report.

On the drug war, Vasquez emphasized a shift from strict law enforcement to treating it as both a health and law enforcement issue.

Vasquez outlined plans to strengthen cybercrime efforts through improved training and collaboration with other agencies.
