SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Rebels and their supporters have voluntarily surrendered to authorities in the region between 14 and 18 January.
According to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) Director Police Brigadier General Jean S. Fajardo, the fight against the communist insurgency is making significant progress. She emphasized that these individuals are renouncing their ties to the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) and its affiliated organizations.
In Baler, Aurora, a former member of Iskwad Tersera Bagong Hukbong Bayan, identified as “LJ,” surrendered to the Aurora 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company on 15 January, turning over a .38 caliber revolver.
In Bataan, two members of Alyansa ng mga Magbubukid sa Bataan, named “Dencio” and “Neil,” withdrew their support on the same day, surrendering a .22 caliber rifle to Bataan 1st PMFC during operations.
On 18 January, in Limay, Bataan, “Ka Roma,” a former member of the Lino Blas Command, surrendered with an improvised 12-gauge shotgun, explosive materials and ammunition, bolstering efforts to dismantle insurgent activities in the area.
In Olongapo City, “Ka Ramon” surrendered on 17 January, turning in an improvised shotgun and a fragmentation grenade. Authorities are assisting with his reintegration, offering financial support to aid his transition to a peaceful life.
Meanwhile, in Nueva Ecija, coordinated police operations led to multiple surrenders, including “Ka Estong” on 16 January, in San Jose City, with a homemade .38 caliber revolver. Seven members of Liga ng Manggagawang Bukid in Guimba and five members of Alyansa ng Mamamayang Nagkakaisa in Laur also renounced their affiliations with insurgent groups.
In Bulacan, “Ka Tets” and “Enteng” surrendered on 14 and 16 January, respectively, handing over firearms, including a Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver and a 9mm pistol.
Director Fajardo praised the collaboration of local police units and communities in achieving these successes. She called on the remaining insurgents to abandon their activities and rebuild their lives.
