In the fast-evolving world of digital media, where creativity and technology converge, new career opportunities are emerging, particularly in creative digital marketing.

The Philippines, with its booming online presence, is seeing an increasing demand for professionals skilled in producing content for social media platforms — a trend that’s reshaping job markets and educational landscapes alike.

At the forefront of this shift is Asia Pacific College, an educational institution under the SM Group, which has been empowering students to seize opportunities in the multimedia arts sector.

Founded in 1991 through a partnership between SM Foundation and IBM Philippines, APC has long championed education that blends technology with creativity, giving students a competitive edge in fields like digital marketing, animation, and multimedia design.

According to human resource firm John Clements Consultants, digital marketing is expected to be among the top five emerging jobs in the Philippines by 2024.

With platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube shaping the media landscape, digital marketing specialists are in high demand, with an average monthly salary of P30,000, according to Jobstreet.

APC’s Multimedia Arts program, currently enrolling 384 students, has responded to this demand by integrating the latest industry tools and techniques.

Students have hands-on access to software used for 2D and 3D animation, sound design, photography, video production and more.

The program’s project-based approach gives students extensive studio time, honing their skills and fostering real-world experience.

“We emphasize practical learning. The more time students spend in the studio, the more they refine their craft,” says APC executive director Robert Besana.

The program also thrives on mentor-apprentice relationships, where professors guide students through projects, offering industry insights and professional advice.

Many of APC’s instructors are active in the industry, such as Jaime Pacena II, a visual artist and award-winning filmmaker, who incorporates his students into real-life projects.

This hands-on experience prepares APC graduates for a variety of careers in digital media. Many alumni have gone on to work in post-production, TV directing, and even launched their own studios, creating new opportunities in the thriving digital creative sector.
