Comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto voluntarily surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Wednesday, 8 January, following a warrant of arrest issued by a Pasay court.

Accompanied by her family, Quinto arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 at around 5:00 AM on a Philippine Airlines flight from San Francisco, California, as reported by GMA News Online.

NAIA-NBI Chief Jimmy De Leon confirmed that Quinto's lawyer coordinated with the NBI for her voluntary surrender. "Quinto underwent a medico-legal examination before being brought to the Pasay court," De Leon said.

The charges against Quinto stem from her endorsement of Dermacare, a company implicated in legal troubles involving Wais na Misis actress Neri Naig.

Quinto faces 14 counts of violating Section 8 of the Securities Regulation Code. However, her lawyer, Atty. Mary Louise Reyes, emphasized that Quinto is not involved in any large-scale estafa complaint and expressed confidence in addressing the charges in court.

Further details about the case are yet to be disclosed.
