In 2024, Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) recorded its highest-ever passenger and flight volumes, underscoring the growth of the country’s aviation industry.
The New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC), which operates the airport, reported that NAIA processed 50.1 million passengers in 2024.
This represents a 5.08 percent increase from its pre-pandemic 2019 peak and a 10.43 percent rise from 2023. The airport also registered 293,488 flights, up 4.83 percent from the previous year and 8.08 percent from 2019.
These figures, excluding general aviation, reflect the ongoing surge in travel demand.
NNIC President Ramon S. Ang said more Filipinos are flying, and more foreign tourists are visiting the Philippines. He added that the growth is a clear sign of renewed confidence in air travel, motivating the airport to improve passenger experiences for all stakeholders.
The data highlights the country’s recovery as a travel destination and its growing role in regional trade and tourism. Since NNIC took over operations on 14 September 2024, NAIA has consistently handled rising passenger volumes, alongside operational improvements.
During the peak holiday travel period from 30 December to 1 January, the airport maintained an on-time performance (OTP) of 83.36 percent. The highest OTP since NNIC’s takeover was recorded on 31 December at 88.35 percent.
NNIC plans to prioritize infrastructure enhancements and streamlined operations in 2025 to meet growing travel demand, aiming to transform NAIA into a modern, efficient airport supporting the country’s tourism and economic growth.
