Converge acting coach Franco Atienza is not the one to count chickens before they hatch.
Although the FiberXers are on a hot winning streak to sit in the top four of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Cup, Atienza keeps his wards’ emotions in check as the race for the playoffs heats up.
Converge has hiked its win-loss record to 6-2 after a four-game roll to end the year punctuated by a Christmas Day victory over Meralco, 110-94, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“We are in the middle of the eliminations but it’s too early. We’re taking it one game at a time. We are happy with this win but after today we look forward to our next game which is next year against Talk ‘N Text,” Atienza said.
The FiberXers are showing good chemistry on the court with import Cheick Diallo providing the goods averaging a double-double with plenty of help from locals Alec Stockton, Schonny Winston and Justin Arana.
New acquisition Jordan Heading has been consistent in scoring and facilitating plays while top rookie pick big man Justine Baltazar is slowly fitting into the system.
