Laborer nabbed for illegal firearms

Elements of the Manila Police District arrested a 49-year-old construction worker who was spotted carrying a firearm during a routine patrol in Tondo on Friday morning.

Police identified the suspect as Edwin Salazar, residing at 1324 Mayhaligue Street, Barangay 262, Tondo, Manila.

The suspect was arrested along Fermin Tubera Street, Tondo, Manila, at about 10:40 a.m. and according to the report, while on duty, policemen were conducting routine patrol when they spotted the suspect acting suspiciously upon seeing the police presence.

The suspect was questioned, and upon frisking, he was found to be carrying an improvised firearm (paltik).

He was brought to the police station where he underwent questioning and his identity was verified.

Recovered from him were an improvised firearm and three live .38 caliber bullets inserted in it.

Charges for Violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunitions) will be filed against him at the Manila City Prosecutor’s Office.
