The local government of Valenzuela City has designated firecracker and pyrotechnic display zones in an attempt to curb the possible rise of firecracker-related injuries as the New Year celebration approaches.
Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie “Wes” Gatchalian signed Executive Order 2024-186, establishing firecracker and pyrotechnic display zones.
The executive order also aims to regulate the usage of firecrackers in the city by prohibiting their sale, manufacture, and distribution throughout the city.
Based on the executive order, 13 barangays do not have a designated firecracker zone.
These barangays are Balangkas, Bagbaguin, Canumay East, Dalandanan, Karuhatan, Lawang Bato, Marulas, Maysan, Parada, Pariancillo Villa, Pasolo, Poblacion and Tagalag.
The ordinance further states that any individual or corporation that violates the law will be punished in accordance with existing laws.
To recall, former President Rodrigo Duterte in 2017 signed an executive order confining the usage of pyrotechnics and fireworks to community fireworks displays.
