Senatorial candidate Luis “Manong Chavit” Singson made waves with a series of dynamic events this week that combined bold, innovative ideas with heartfelt grassroots engagement.
From launching a cutting-edge digital banking platform to connecting with local leaders and communities, Singson’s campaign trail is shaping up to be one of forward-thinking progress and inclusive development.
Singson — who is Number 58 in the Senate ballot — kicked off his week with the highly-anticipated grand launch of VBank, a BSP-regulated digital banking platform designed to empower Filipinos through financial literacy and inclusion.
Held at the Bridgetowne Open Grounds, the event was attended by notable personalities such as Ai Ai delas Alas and James Deakin where Singson shared his bold vision of modernizing financial access in the Philippines, with a focus on financial empowerment for all.
A major highlight of the launch was the announcement of a 58-day raffle, where P5,800 would be given away daily to 58 winners, alongside a grand prize of P580,000.
In his speech, Singson stressed the importance of financial inclusion, saying, “No one becomes rich without a bank account.”
The event also served as a platform for Singson to present his senatorial agenda, which includes promoting economic zones, supporting electric vehicle adoption, and continuing to advocate for the showbiz industry.
On 18 December, Singson traveled to Tangub City, Misamis Occidental, where he joined Governor Henry Oaminal and 17 mayors for the Paskong Handog 2024 — a celebration of the season and a testament to Singson’s deep commitment to regional development, particularly in tourism and economic growth.
Oaminal praised Singson’s vision, saying, “With Chavit, the progress of the province is the progress of the country,” highlighting the senator’s potential to drive national progress.
During the event, Singson stressed his plans to streamline government processes by eliminating red tape and establishing more economic zones, which he believes will be crucial for driving sustainable growth across the country.
The campaign trail continued on 19 December with the launch of the Squala IV Cup shooting tournament in Santiago City, located in Northeastern Luzon, which showcased Singson’s marksmanship skills.
It was attended by Vice Governor Bodjie Dy and Representative Richelle Singson.
The tournament underscored Singson’s values of discipline, excellence, and commitment to leadership.
During a press conference that followed, Governor Rodito Albano expressed his support for Singson, stating, “We need a brave senator.”
The endorsement highlighted Singson’s appeal as a strong, decisive leader capable of addressing the challenges facing the nation.
The final event of the week took place in Laguna, where Chavit Singson distributed financial aid to over 3,000 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program on 21 December 2024.
Singson used the opportunity to emphasize the role of VBank in promoting financial transparency, stating, “VBank will make it easier for the government to serve the people.”
In his remarks, Singson also addressed issues of graft and corruption within government processes, calling for reforms that would ensure public funds reach those who need them the most. His words resonated with local communities, who are eager for leaders committed to reforming systems that impact their daily lives.
