2025 seems to be already shaping up to be a productive year for Converge ICT Solutions Inc., which aims to complete the migration of Sky’s fixed-line subscribers to fiber by the end of next year.
In an interview on Monday, Converge CEO Dennis Anthony Uy said the full migration of Sky, which has around 300,000 subscribers, to fiber may take up to a year.
“We started with Sky. We are migrating the old cable to fiber, starting in Quezon City. It’s challenging, but we need to put some focus. Hopefully, in six to seven months, we can transfer more,” Uy said.
In July, Converge and Sky formalized a commercial agreement aimed at upgrading Sky’s services and enhancing the customer experience for its subscribers.
“Sky is a household brand already. We can expand it nationwide,” he added.
Rollout in 3 provinces
The rollout will initially target provinces such as Baguio, Davao and General Santos, utilizing Converge’s existing infrastructure.
Uy also shared that Converge’s network utilization rate is currently at 30 percent, leaving significant capacity for partnerships with independent providers.
“Our ports are now at nine million. What we want is to roll out in all Filipino homes. We believe in open access to all Filipino homes,” he stated, explaining that collaborations with smaller players could help reduce capital expenditures while improving service delivery.
