DA boosts Cordillera farmers with infra projects

Cordillera Regional Project Advisory Board has approved and endorsed rural infrastructure subprojects worth P634 million for funding.

BAGUIO CITY — Farmers and residents in the two provinces of the Cordillera will expect infrastructure projects that will bring convenience to them as the Department of Agriculture (DA) Cordillera is gearing up for the realization of such.

In a statement, the DA said that Cordillera Regional Project Advisory Board has approved and endorsed rural infrastructure subprojects worth P634 million for funding.

The projects are part of the scaled-up DA’s Philippine Rural Development Project.

DA officials said that the agency approved the funding of subprojects for the Lagawe Water System in Lagawe, Ifugao worth P96.73 million which will ensure the provision of potable water supply to five barangays of the municipality.

Another project seen in the said municipality is the funding for the improvement of the Caba-Luta-Ponghal-Buyabuyan Farm-to-Market Road with a bridge. This P381.97 million project will cover eight barangays of Lagawe and benefit around 3,808 individuals.

The DA also approved the funding of the improvement of the Sabangan Communal Irrigation System in Sabangan, Mountain Province worth P155 million which will benefit around 130 hectares of agricultural lands across 11 barangays of Sabangan.
