General Santos City — Sarangani Province has once again demonstrated its excellence, earning another Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Award from the Department of the Interior and Local Government at the recent awards ceremony held at the Tent City of the Manila Hotel.
This marks the second consecutive year Sarangani has received the prestigious award. The province is among 41 to receive the honor, part of the 741 local government units (LGUs) recognized nationwide. This year's SGLG ceremony saw the highest number of awardees in its history, with 41 provinces, 96 cities, and 577 municipalities honored.
All awardees will receive an SGLG Marker and an SGLG Incentive Fund to support local development initiatives. Governor Rogelio Pacquiao accepted the award, accompanied by Vice Governor Elmer de Peralta, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Provincial Administrator Ryan Ramos, Provincial Legal Officer Jenric Garcia, Treasurer Eliza Cania, and Provincial Tourism President Jobelle Pacquiao.
“This recognition reflects our dedication to sound financial administration, disaster preparedness, and social protection. We have excelled in health compliance, sustainable education, and business competitiveness while strengthening safety, peace, and order. Our efforts in environmental management, heritage preservation, and youth development further underscore our commitment to Sarangani’s future,” Governor Pacquiao said.
In addition to Sarangani, the municipalities of Malungon, Malapatan, Alabel, and Maasim also received the prestigious 2024 SGLG award.
“This achievement belongs to every Sarangan. To our municipal leaders, provincial employees, and every citizen who contributes to Sarangani’s progress, thank you for your trust and support. As we celebrate this milestone, let us renew our dedication to transparency, accountability, and performance excellence,” Pacquiao said in a message.
