The Israeli Embassy on Wednesday donated two units of water filtration devices to displaced families and communities affected by the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon in Negros Occidental.
The embassy has partnered with Operation Blessing Foundation, a non-government organization dedicated to helping neglected and disadvantaged people, most especially during disasters.
“In Israel, we have a very good system for these emergencies, it’s called NUF. It’s actually a system to purify and supply good drinking water,” said Israel Ambassador to the Philippines Ilan Fluss said during a simple turnover at the warehouse of Operation Blessing in Barangay Manggahan, Pasig City.
“This can supply enough drinking water for communities and the drinking level of water is easy to connect,” he added.
The Israeli envoy also stressed that the water filtration system can actually make river water into safe drinking water.
“Open water supply can be river, or deep well. You can operate this manually, so you don’t need electricity — you only need manpower,” Fluss said.
“So, we are donating two water filtration systems to communities affected by the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon. We are very happy to be a tool in helping the Filipino people,” he added.
For his part, Operation Blessing president and CEO Peter Kairuz thanked the Israeli Embassy for the partnership.
“Operation Blessing is so grateful and thankful for our partnership with the Israel Embassy in many ways. This is just one evidence of the many things that the Israeli people are doing for the Philippines, and we are glad to be part of it,” Kairuz said.
“We are thankful that we can deploy these right away to our brothers and sisters in Kanlaon to help them secure and drink pure potable water. This is just the beginning of so many things that the embassy has done to us,” he added.
