CAAP on heightened holiday alert

During this Yuletide season, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines is getting ready to manage the expected increase in air passenger traffic at 44 CAAP commercial airports.

Key agencies such as the PNP-Aviation Security Unit, Office of Transportation Security, Department of Tourism, Civil Aeronautics Board, and aircraft operators will work closely with CAAP, as well as the Department of Transportation and municipal governments. The collaborations are intended to improve efficiency and security by streamlining check-in processes.

As mandated by CAAP Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo, all CAAP area center managers are responsible for ensuring that the passenger terminal buildings, under their control can handle the increase in passengers.

In accordance with DG Tamayo’s directive, the airport must provide enough chairs, luggage carts, functional escalators, sanitary restrooms in the pre-departure and arrival areas, and enough lighting for the parking lots and access roads.

“Our goal is to give travelers a smooth and effective journey at this joyous time of year. We are committed to providing the highest levels of safety, security, and convenience for everyone by working closely with our partners and putting strict procedures in place,” the CAAP chief stated.

DG Tamayo added that all airports will have Malasakit Help Desks to assist passengers, and the security personnel and medical staff will be on high alert and ready to handle any crises.
