Leading integrated telco network PLDT Inc (PLDT)’s wireless subsidiary Smart Communications, Inc (Smart) is enhancing its mobile network in Metro Manila, boosting connectivity for millions of students, professionals and entrepreneurs based in the country’s primary urban center.

“Our ramped-up network rollout and enhancement initiatives are key to delivering unmatched customer satisfaction through superior connectivity, accelerating business growth while reinforcing our dedication to nation-building, driving progress, and shaping the country’s digital future,” said Anastacio R. Martirez, Smart Chief Operating Officer.

Smart has rolled out additional 4G/LTE and 5G sites, as well as expanded the capacity of existing sites across the country, including in the cities of Manila, Taguig, Valenzuela, Makati, Pasig and Quezon City, to support the heightened demand for a seamless mobile data experience.

Recently, Smart’s value brand TNT also launched ‘TNT 5G Max’ at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig and its surrounding areas as part of the company’s thrust to bring a boosted network experience that delivers faster speeds and more reliable connectivity through 5G to more subscribers. TNT has also unveiled the new TNT 5G Panalo Phone, the most affordable smartphone in the Philippines for only Php3,990, making the 5G Max experience even more accessible.

Smart has also strengthened its 5G coverage in major event venues including Smart Araneta in Quezon City, Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, and Philippine Arena in Bulacan, boosting network performance during sporting and music events such as the PBA Finals, FIBA qualifiers and South Korean boy band Stray Kids’ concert.

At the Philippine Arena, concert goers found that phones connected to Smart’s 5G network posted download speeds 10x faster than phones connected to the competitor’s network, whereas fans who watched the electric win of Gilas Pilipinas against Hong Kong at the MOA Arena enjoyed unmatched 5G speeds exceeding 200 Mbps.

“We continue to invest in enhancing our mobile network to meet the needs of our subscribers, whether they need it to elevate their gaming, stay updated with the shows they are streaming or to simply keep sharing their life moments and milestones with loved ones online,” said Debbie M. Hu, Smart Wireless Network Head.

Among those who would benefit from this boosted network is Nikki Lizarondo, a 30-year-old mental health professional based in Manila. “I use 5G to connect to the digital world, which is very important in my line of work as a communications professional,” said Nikki, who is Deputy Director for Communications at Quezon City-based Mental Health PH, and who uses cloud-based apps such as Google Slides, Google Sheets and Google Docs regularly. “Having seamless data helps me work faster,” she added.

In addition to beefing up its network, Smart has also been enabling its subscribers to maximize 5G through value-packed mobile data offers including TNT Saya All, Power All, All Access, and Doble Data and Smart Postpaid’s new channel exclusive plans.

The PLDT Group’s continued investments in enhancing its integrated network, including its robust 5G infrastructure, is aligned with the group’s commitment to deliver leveled-up customer experience across the country. Smart’s mobile network covers 97% of the population and is part of the Philippines’ largest integrated network that includes PLDT’s most extensive fiber infrastructure.

Smart’s innovative mobile products and services also contribute to the PLDT Group’s endeavors to narrow the digital divide, provide connectivity to all, and achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) particularly SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. These also reinforce the Group’s support for the Government’s overall digitalization thrust.
