Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation-National Capital Region (NBI-NCR) arrested four individuals in Parañaque City last 28 November for the illegal sale of high-powered firearms.
NBI director Jaime B. Santiago said his office received a report about a group selling illegal firearms in Metro Manila and nearby areas, violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Undercover agents conducted an entrapment operation in Asiana Square, Paranaque City, where two M14 caliber .556 rifles were sold to poseur-buyers for P290,000.
Arrested were Jerome V. Nuyque, Maximo G. Ayawon, Michael Douglas E. Loleng and Nilo Barnacha.
Confiscated items included one Daniel Defense M14 Carbine Cal. .556mm; one Bushmaster Cal. .556mm model XM15-E2S; four .556mm magazines; 20 live .556mm ammunitions; one black rifle tactical bag; two marked P1,000 bills; one Shooters Cal. .45 pistol; 12 Cal. .45 live ammunitions; one CZ pistol Cal. 6.35mm and six 6.35mm live ammunitions.
Santiago commended the NBI-NCR, led by Regional Director Ferdinand M. Lavin, for the successful operation.
