After spending a month-long vacation in Siargao, actress Sue Ramirez finally broke her silence regarding her rumored relationship with Dominic Roque.
Addressing a viral video that showed the two enjoying activities such as islandhopping and sharing intimate moments at a bar, Ramirez confirmed that she and Roque are indeed “seeing each other,” ending ongoing speculation about their connection.
Upon leaving the mediacon for the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival movie The Kingdom, starring Vic Sotto and Piolo Pascual, Ramirez was asked by the media about the “real score” of her relationship with Roque. In response, she gave a brief but telling statement.
“Basta, I’m happy. We’re enjoying each other’s company. That’s all I can say for now,” Ramirez said.
Not long after, Ramirez provided a more direct confirmation regarding her relationship with Roque. She admitted, “We’ve been seeing each other,” marking the first time she openly addressed the rumors surrounding their connection.
After a video showed the two in Siargao, speculation about her alleged relationship with Roque quickly spread across social media platforms. In the clip, Ramirez could be seen leaning on Roque and sharing a kiss with him while they were at a bar, fueling rumors about their romantic involvement.
This marks the first time Ramirez has spoken publicly about her relationship with Roque, who ended his engagement with Kapuso star Bea Alonzo in January. Meanwhile, Ramirez herself went through a breakup last July with her boyfriend of five years, Javi Benitez, the Mayor of Victorias City, Negros Occidental.
On one hand, Alonzo and Roque got engaged in July 2023 when Roque proposed to Alonzo during a photoshoot at Las Casas. However, the couple later decided to call off their engagement mutually.
On the other hand, Benitez confirmed on 9 November through a two-part Instagram story that he and Ramirez had parted ways, revealing that the breakup had occurred four months prior.
Ramirez plays the character of Dayang Lualhati in The Kingdom, the younger daughter of Lakan Makisig, portrayed by Sotto. Dayang is set to marry a Thai prince but is abducted by men whom Matimyas claims are from the secessionist group Tiwalag.
The Kingdom is an upcoming Philippine action-adventure film set in the Kingdom of Kalayaan, a fictional realm in a contemporary version of the Philippines where the islands were never colonized. The film explores the intricate hierarchy of the Kaharian ng Kalayaan and the Malayas, offering a unique take on Philippine history and society.
The Kingdom will be part of the first entries for the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival. Alongside Ramirez, the film features a talented cast, including Zion Cruz, Nico Antonio, Sid Lucero and Christine Reyes.
