Iconic Filipino band Side A and Pinoy pop artist Janine Teñoso joined forces during their “Bonded by Sound” benefit concert at The Theatre at Solaire last Saturday, giving the audience a timeless and modern Original Pilipino Music experience in one show.

Side A brought nostalgia with their ‘90s hits “Forevermore,” “Got to Believe in Magic,” and “Tuloy Pa Rin Ako.” They also performed their award-winning 2022 heartbreak ballad “Clueless,” which earned Best Ballad Recording at the Awit Awards earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Janine showcased her dynamic vocal range in the effortless performances of her signature tracks, including “‘Di Na Muli” from her Sid & Aya album and “Tingin” featuring OPM band Cup of Joe.

In an exclusive interview with the DAILY TRIBUNE, Side A shared that performing with Janine was a refreshing experience, as they usually share the stage with artists from their era.

Bass guitarist Ned Esguerra and keyboardist Naldy Gonzales hinted at a potential collaboration with Janine should the opportunity knock on their doors.

“Kung magkaroon ng opportunity, we'll definitely grab it right away,” Gonzales added.

Meanwhile, Janine expressed her gratitude for performing on a single stage with the legendary band. “It's a privilege to sing songs with Side A,” she said.

Lead vocalist Yubs Esperat highlighted how the youth still recognize real talent and support someone as gifted as Janine, which gives hope to the future of authentic Filipino music.

“I’m just thankful na pag may show like that, people still come out to watch. Excited pa rin na manood, ma-enjoy ‘yung music,” he added.

The concert came shortly after Side A concluded their “Now & Then” US tour, which allowed them to reconnect with their international fans.

Janine, meanwhile, continues to make waves in the OPM scene with the recent release of her six-track EP Apat Na Buwan in September, featuring the songs “Palihim,” “Hulaan,” “Sandig,” “23,” and “Apat Na Buwan.”

Side A and Janine made sure the concert ended on a high note with a mashup performance, including Walk the Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance” and Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” filling the venue with a crowd on their feet, singing and dancing, making the show a night to remember.
