The Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), in partnership with the Municipality of Los Baños, marked a milestone in affordable housing with the groundbreaking of the Bagong Los Baños Residences on 27 November. This project, under the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program (4PH), is part of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s broader initiative to address the nation’s housing backlog and provide quality homes to Filipinos.
Located in Barangay Anos, the vertical housing development will benefit over 2,100 member-beneficiaries, including families from danger zones, informal settler families, and local government employees.
The event was led by SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa, Los Baños Mayor Anthony Genuino, and Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Regional Office IV-A Director Jean Paul Ilao.
Laxa emphasized the project’s strategic location and its focus on community-centered development. “We deliberately choose locations that are near essential amenities such as commercial centers, schools, and hospitals,” Laxa explained. He also praised the extensive planning behind the project, adding, “We didn’t settle for the usual; we brainstormed tirelessly to deliver a project that exceeds expectations. This isn’t just socialized housing—it’s a community equipped with modern amenities that ensure a high standard of living.”
Mayor Genuino expressed his heartfelt gratitude and excitement for the project, describing it as a “dream come true” for Los Baños residents. He noted that the Bagong Los Baños Residences symbolizes hope and progress, calling it a lasting legacy for future generations.
Speaking on behalf of DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar, Director Ilao reaffirmed the department’s commitment to the 4PH initiative, emphasizing its crucial role in bridging the housing gap.
The Bagong Los Baños Residences is among SHFC’s 12 ongoing 4PH projects, which include developments like Crystal Peak Estates in San Fernando City, Pampanga, People’s Ville in Davao City, and Valley View Township in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental. Collectively, SHFC is contributing to 111 shovel-ready initiatives nationwide, targeting over 505,000 housing units by 2028.
This new project underscores SHFC’s dedication to ensuring that affordable housing is both accessible and of high quality, fostering vibrant communities for a better future.
