Customs officials at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Friday discovered over P1.5 million worth of illegal drugs hidden in four abandoned parcels at the Central Mail Exchange.
The first parcel, declared as a sex toy tumbler, arrived from Canada via the Abdul Jakul Sextoy Company and was addressed to a resident of San Mateo, Rizal. Inside, authorities discovered 116 grams of high-grade marijuana, commonly known as kush.
Shipped from South El Monte, California, the second parcel appeared to be a cushion repair kit sent by EOS Upholstery. However, it contained 225 grams of marijuana and eight vape cartridges filled with liquid marijuana.
The package was addressed to someone named Tine Tungpalan in Ilocos Norte.
The third parcel, declared as a Nintendo/Playstation game, originated from San Francisco and was sent by one Cocoy Ortaleza to an Andy Ortaleza in Angeles City, Pampanga. Upon inspection, officers found 114 grams of suspected shabu within the package.
Coming from Fallon, Missouri, USA, the last parcel under the name of Carson Lawrence and addressed to Mark Truzan in Pasay City, was declared as merchandise. It contained 26 vape cartridges containing liquid marijuana and 44 grams of high-grade marijuana.
All seized drugs, with an estimated value of P1,594,220, were handed over by the Bureau of Customs to the NAIA Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-IADITG for further investigation and proper disposal.
