President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has renamed eight Philippine National Police camps in recognition of previous police officers' exceptional service, Malacañang said on Wednesday.
According to the Palace, Marcos said "it is fitting" to bestow honors on retired police personnel who have demonstrated great devotion and service to the provinces and municipalities to which they were assigned.
Marcos – through Proclamation No. 429, which Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed on 20 December – designated the donated lot to the PNP in Pasacao, Camarines Sur as Camp Brigadier General Ludovico Padilla Arejola, the donated lot to the Police Regional Office 5 as Camp Captain Salvador Jaucian del Rosario, Sr., and the donated lot to the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office as Camp Colonel Juan Querubin Miranda
Additionally, the President renamed the PRO MIMAROPA Headquarters as Camp Brigadier General Efigenio C. Navarro and designated the 50th Maneuver Company Regional Mobile Force Battalion 5 as Camp Police Max Jim Ramirez Tria.
"It is fitting to give honor to former servicemen who have shown patriotism, courage, and dedication in serving the country and the provinces to which they are assigned and distinguished themselves in their service to the nation by way of naming and renaming PNP facilities in their honor," Marcos said.
Proclamation No. 430, a separate issuance, designated the Police Provincial Office of Biliran as Camp Private Andres P. Dadizon, Police Regional Office 8, and the Police Regional Office 12 in General Santos City as Camp General Paulino T. Santos, Police Regional Office 12.
Additionally, Camp 2LT Carlos Rafael Paz Imperial, Police Regional Office 5, was designated by Marcos as the headquarters of the Camarines Sur 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company.
Marcos used Section 2 of Republic Act No. 10086, also known as the Strengthening People's Nationalism through the Philippine History Act, while renaming PNP camps and properties. This act aims to instill a sense of pride in the achievements of the people, a love for the country, and respect for its heroes.
