Some 1,900 individuals nationwide were apprehended through the National Police Clearance System, the Philippine National Police said on Monday.
In a statement, Maj. Gen. Eric Noble, director of the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management said that NPCS has accomplished a noteworthy milestone, resulting in the successful apprehension of 1,877 individuals nationwide from the year 2018 to 2023.
He said the NPCS, a cutting-edge initiative to bolster law enforcement efforts, has proven its efficacy in identifying and apprehending individuals with standing arrest warrants.
"This impressive number reflects the PNP's commitment to ensuring our communities' safety and security. Through advanced technology and a streamlined process, the system has enabled PNP personnel to swiftly and accurately identify individuals with outstanding legal issues," Noble said in a statement.
He added the NPCS has become an indispensable tool in the fight against crime, facilitating the quick and efficient resolution of cases that may have otherwise gone unnoticed.
Noble said the achievement underscores the ongoing commitment of the PNP to leverage technology for the greater good of the communities as the NPCS plays a pivotal role in creating safer neighborhoods and ensuring that individuals with legal issues are brought to justice.
"We sincerely appreciate the dedication of other law enforcement agencies, stakeholders, and the general public who have worked tirelessly with the PNP to make this achievement possible. Their commitment to public safety and their diligent efforts in utilizing advanced technology have significantly impacted the peace and order of our communities," he stressed.
Through the NPCS, persons with a criminal record from a certain area cannot obtain a police clearance from another area.
Police clearance is among common requirements for various purposes such as employment and other government transactions.
