Yuchengco-led PetroGreen Energy Corp. or PGEC is set to operationalize its P1.2-billion 27-megawatt or MW Dagohoy Solar Power Project in San Vicente and Sta. Cruz, Dagohoy, Bohol by the end of 2024.
In an interview with reporters, PGEC's site engineer Frederick Pizana said site development works for the project, touted as the first large utility-scale solar power project under development in the province, were already completed.
Once operational, the solar facility will boost the indigenous power supply in Bohol, which has been dependent on imported power supply from Leyte and Cebu.
All development work done
"All the major site development works, before the installation of the solar panels and major electrical facilities, have been completed by our contractor, Media Construction and Development Corp.," Pizana said.
"We were able to proceed as scheduled and worked fast because of the strong support from our partner government agencies, host communities, and the local government unit of Dagohoy headed by Mayor Hermie Relampagos," he added.
Meanwhile, PGEC VP for Commercial Operations Maria Victoria M. Olivar said major contractors — Global Electric for the solar farm construction and Philcantech Enterprises for the electrical and grid connection — will start the power plant construction by mid-January.
"Barring any unforeseen circumstances, this progress should allow PGEC to meet our commitment to the DoE and our off-taker S.N.Aboitiz Power," Olivar said.
Aside from this, PGEC also scheduled the start of the construction of its 25-megawatt or MW Bugallon Solar Power Project early next year after the Local Government Unit or LGU of Bugallon, Pangasinan already issued the project's locational clearance last 14 November.
The corresponding pre-construction building permit, on the other hand, will be issued in time for the target start of development in January 2024.
Clean RE by last Q4, 2024
The Bugallon Solar Power Project will be located on a 25-hectare site in Barangay Salomague Sur, Bugallon, Pangasinan. It is expected to supply clean and renewable power in the area by the last quarter of 2024.
Once operational, the facility is expected to generate 41,000 MWh of power annually and to reduce carbon emissions by 29,056 metric tons."
PGEC is a joint venture between publicly-listed Yuchengco Group of Companies affiliate PetroEnergy Resources Corp. and Kyuden International Corp., the overseas investment arm of Kyushu Electric Power Company.
