Cops nab Malaysian for kidnapping, other crimes

Police arrested a 30-year-old Malaysian national after his Chinese female victim escaped and sought the help of patrolling policemen in Pasay City on 21 November. 

The suspect was identified as Kevin Co Tan, a resident of Chateau Residences, in Parañaque City.

Tan is currently detained at the Pasay City police custodial facility and charged with kidnapping, serious illegal detention, robbery and physical injury.

Police said the victim, a Chinese tourist, arrived in the Philippines and stayed at Okada Hotel and Casino in Parañaque City.

The victim reportedly lost a lot of money while gambling at the casino and was approached by the suspect who persuaded her to transfer to another casino.

The suspect brought the victim instead to a hotel in Pasay City where she was detained and physically abused. The suspect also demanded the victim  to produce P1,640,000.

The P40,000 iPhone 14 and P80,000 Omega watch was also taken by the suspect.
