Angkas, a motorcycle ride-hailing and delivery service provider, has partnered with Home Development Mutual Fund, commonly known as Pag-IBIG Fund, to ramp up the social protection of partner riders.
The bike taxi company said on Tuesday that the strategic partnership aims to enhance the social safety net for bikers and their families by offering accessible and sustainable housing loan options.
"Partnering with Pag-IBIG strengthens our bikers' social safety net. We do this because we recognize their daily efforts on the streets and commitment to delivering quality service to our customers," Angkas CEO George Royeca said.
"Our bikers are at the core of our operations. (We are committed) to provide the help and support they deserve, acknowledging their hard work and dedication. It is also an opportunity for us to listen and discover how we can better serve them."
'Alagang Angkas: Pamilya Weekend'
Angkas recently hosted the "Alagang Angkas: Pamilya Weekend" at their Cainta Office which brought together 1,000 bikers and their families. Participants were offered vital health services with doctors providing free health screenings, eye exams and dental checkups.
SariSuki, a community selling platform, joined the event and offered grocery products at discounted prices.
Angkas said it will remain committed to uplifting riders and their families from poverty through various programs and initiatives, striving to enhance their overall quality of life.
Only three legally licensed players
The government regulators legally licensed only three players — Angkas, MOVE IT, and JoyRide — to take part in the motorcycle taxi pilot study to provide affordable, safe, and reliable transportation to thousands of daily commuters.
