Commuters in Quezon City were not affected by the three-day transport strike called by jeepney group PISTON.
This was after other jeepney associations not affiliated with PISTON continued to ply their routes saying they they would rather work to earn a living.
By noontime, jeepneys having the route of Novaliches to Blumentrit and vice versa continue to ferry passengers to their destinations.
Whether traditional or modern jeepneys, one can find their way to commute. This was also observed in East Avenue to Philcoa routes where jeepneys also abound.
Same in the Katipunan area and the stretch of Commonwealth Avenue.
In Cubao, like Aurora Boulevard going to Recto and E. Rodriguez Avenue down to Kamuning and Tomas Morato areas, workers and students can easily take a ride, with an augmentation of free rides from the local government of Quezon City and the local police are on standby.
Members of the Balara-Katipunan Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association said they were inclined not to join the strike.
Bobby Marasigan, the group's secretary said their families "would not have food at their table" if they went with a PISTON-led transport strike.
It has been their stance, Marasigan said, every time, a group urges them to join a strike.
