Presidential Adviser for Poverty Alleviation Secretary Larry Gadon on Friday debunked the claims of United Nations (UN) rapporteur Ian Fry and defended the existence of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).
Gadon said Fry is just sowing confusion by trying to meddle with government policies addressing the economic situation of Filipinos in far-flung areas.
"He must be thrown where he belongs. Making baseless accusations and recommendations to abolish the NTF-ELCAC without basis is just his handy work to remain and receive higher pay from the UN," Gadon explained.
The NTF-ELCAC according to Gadon was created to provide an efficient implementation of the "whole-of-nation/government approach" to help those "whose rights are violated" by Communist rebels and their affiliates in the mainstream society "that disguises as rights defenders."
"He (Fry) is receiving big amount of money from the UN, plus perks of traveling with allowances, doing these non-sense claims in countries that have an effective way of fighting rebellion and poverty for its people," Gadon pointed out.
He added that the NTF-ELCAC "has been very instrumental in uplifting the lives of people living in conflict and pestered by Communist Terror Group," and providing economic activities to the communities to improve the poor people in these communities.
The NTF-ELCAC he said has the support not only of the past administration and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. but of all the lawmakers in the Lower and Upper Chambers, as well. He added that it "has improved the lives of many poor Filipinos" by bringing government services to far-flung communities.
