Is Sen. Revilla EDSA bus lane violator?

Pat C. Santos

Was the EDSA Bus lane violator allowed to pass by traffic enforcers last Wednesday, Senator Ramon Revilla or not?

This is the question now in the minds of many after the senator denied he was with the convoy that violated the exclusivity of the lane despite a traffic enforcer's insistence that he saw the lawmaker at the back of the lead car.

The EDSA bus lane has been set up for buses which carry a huge number of commuters to ply the highway unimpeded during rush hours.

Ret. Col. Edison "Bong" Nebrija, in his appearance at the "Kapihan sa Manila Bay forum" Wednesday said while he was not at the area where it happened, he relied on the radio report given by his traffic men who accosted the convoy vehicles.

However upon learning that it was the convoy of Revilla, he said he immediately permitted the convoy to pass.

"We don't have any intention of damaging the name of Senator Revilla. We are only implementing the law"  assured Nebrija.

Not all government vehicles, he said, are allowed to use the said lane, only marked vehicles with logos and those performing law enforcment and emergency work like firetruck, mobile police patrol ambulance.

He clarified that VIPs like congressmen, senators, and  president could be allowed to pass if the said personality is aboard the said vehicle.

Nebrija said that they have the video and the plate number of the said vehicle and if it is not Senator Revilla's entourage we will find out who is using his name.
