Only half a year after it kicked off the construction of its Quezon City facility, Ayala-backed ST Telemedia Global Data Centers or STT GDC Philippines is now building another unit within its STT Cavite data center campus.

The 6-megawatt STT Cavite 2 will be a two-story building with a gross floor area of over 4,500 square meters, which will be connected to STT Makati.

STT Cavite 2, which is set to begin operations in middle of 2025, is STT GDC Philippines' second major construction this year, following the groundbreaking of the STT Fairview data center campus.

"As the Philippines sets its sights on a digital future and rapidly expands its digital capabilities, this forward momentum makes the need for robust digital infrastructure and rich network connectivity even more critical," STT GDC Philippines President and CEO Carlo Malana said.

Key contributor to digital economy

"STT GDC Philippines is vested in being a key contributor to the building of the Philippine digital economy. With the right critical infrastructure in place, businesses can thrive in the digital realm and citizens can reap the benefits of a digital society. All these will drive the nation towards unlocking its full potential, on its way to becoming a regional leader in the digital landscape," he added.

To date, STT GDC Philippines has seven data centers under its portfolio.

STT GDC Philippines is a joint venture between Globe, the Ayala Corporation, and Singapore-based ST Telemedia Global Data Centres. It serves as the Globe Group's "investment into the digital future of the Philippines and the region."

Vast economic potential

A recent study predicts that the Philippines could unlock a vast economic potential of up to P5 trillion by 2030 by fully utilizing digital technologies. The figure represents approximately 27 percent of the country's GDP in 2020.
