JUST IN: Santiago, Ilocus Sur village chief injured after shooting incident

The village chief of Santiago, Ilocos Sur, also the current president of the Association of Barangay Councils, survived a shooting incident by still unknown assailants on Saturday, 28 October at around 2:25 p.m. at Brgy Butol, Santiago, Ilocos Sur.

The incident was confirmed to Daily Tribune by Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office Director Darnel Dulnuan.

Ruben Elefante sustained a gunshot wound on his right face which exited on his right ear. He was brought to a hospital where he is currently being treated.

Elefante is running for Barangay Kagawad while his wife is running for Barangay Captain at Barangay Butol.

The Ilocos Sur PNP said it is conducting a manhunt operation against the assailants.
