Potential market for Taiwanese food and beverage seen

Taiwan Food Tour 2023 had its last stop in the Philippines, inside of one of the largest malls — SM City Fairview at the urban area of Quezon City.

Filipino mallgoers and consumers warmly welcomed the celebration of Taiwanese food and beverage industry. It been a three-day filled with savory treats, fun daily activities, and blissful taste palates.

The event – which kicked off from 15 to 17 September 2023 – was organized and brought to actuality by Taiwan International Trade Administration, together with Taiwan External Trade Development Council.

Notable delegates are present at the opening of the exhibit with Josephine Shun, director of Economic Division of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines and director Alex Lai, of Taiwan Trade Center Manila joined exhibitors in commencing the celebration on the first day.

This year's exhibit featured over 200 kinds of Taiwanese food and beverage products from distinct exhibitors from Taiwan and from Taiwanese brands available here in the Philippines.

There are variety of snacks and candies from Want Want and Aji Ichiban, frozen and cooked pork products of First Super, healthy noodle options by Jin Sauces, organic and premium oils of Longlife Field, and agricultural products from Bokuno Farm and Pingtung County Yagou Agricultural Products Distribution and Marketing Cooperative.

Taiwanese fly-in exhibitors also maximized the three-day duration to introduce their products to the Filipino consumers and it all paid off as they received a great amount of support from the adventurous taste buds of local consumers who are fond of trying something new.

It is a sight to see and an ambiance to feel as Shenkeng Old Street-like structures were built for a whole Taiwan experience. People are taking photos from here and there as they roam inside the exhibit to find and taste the products offered.

A Filipino comedian and actress, an avid fan of Taiwan culture, and social media influencer, Kiray Celis visited the exhibit and felt like she was transported back to Taiwan. Fun daily activities with exciting prizes also took place and brought a lot of smiles in the faces.

Taiwanese exhibitors are hopeful to penetrate the Philippine market as they have witnessed the consumption strength of the Filipinos. The closeness of our two countries geographically is also an ace to maintain the quality of the products. They are optimistic with creating future opportunities here in our country.
