Rondina sizzles in Choco Mucho win

Sisi Rondina was an instant hit in her professional debut after red-hot outing as Choco Mucho barely broke a sweat in getting their Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference Pool B campaign in motion with a 25-14, 25-7, 25-16, pummeling of newcomer Farm Fresh on Thursday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

The former University Athletic Association of the Philippines Most Valuable Player came out smoking to torch the stunned Foxies with 14 points built on a 13-of-27 attacking clip to lead the Flying Titans.

Head coach Dante Alinsunurin lauded Rondina's impressive performance on the taraflex floor after spending the past three years making a successful career on the sands in beach volleyball.

"She gave us the energy that we lacked in the first conference. Her fighting spirit inside the court and the willingness of her teammates to play their best because of her presence was just great," Alinsunurin said of Choco Mucho's biggest recruit during the offseason.

"She doesn't talk too much but her actions inside the court are enough to inspire her teammates."

Caitlyn Viray had 13 points with 11 coming off kills while setter Deanna Wong joined the scoring fray with eight points highlighted by five aces to go along with eight excellent sets for the Flying Titans.

Choco Mucho's might was on full display in the second set when it raced to a 13-0 lead following a solid kill block by Viray.

Farm Fresh, already down on morale, just absorbed the rest of the Flying Titans' beating for its second loss in as many games.

Choco Mucho outworked the Foxies all categories with a 40-19 hitting advantage, a 12-2 difference in kill blocks and landed three mores aces with six service winners.

Trisha Tubu finished with seven points while Michelle Gamit and Zamantha Nolasco combined for just eight markers for the Foxies, who are now on the brink of missing the semifinal cut.
