Disney+ audiences worldwide can start watching the new Japanese psycho-thriller series Gannibal.
Set in Kuge, a fictional Japanese village, Gannibal sees police officer Daigo Agawa arriving as a broken man. A series of alarming events, including the unexpected death of an elderly villager, unfold — leading Daigo to sense something is wrong with the village and its residents.
Thrown into a hostile environment, will the new police officer to patrol the streets of Kuge village bring the suspects to justice before it's too late?
Based on the hit manga series of the same name by Masaaki Ninomiya, Gannibal stars Yuya Yagira (HOKUSAI, Asakusa Kid), Best Actor at the 57th Cannes Film Festival, as police officer Daigo Agawa.
Riho Yoshioka (Quartet, Here Comes Asa!) plays Yuki Agawa, Daigo's wife who moves to the new village hoping to find peace after a traumatic incident.
Show Kasamatsu (Tokyo Vice, Love You as the World Ends) is Keisuke Goto, a member of the Goto family, a domineering presence in the mysterious Kuge village.
Behind the series are some of the most prominent names in the Japanese film scene. Produced by Teruhisa Yamamoto, (Academy Award-winning Drive My Car) and Tatsuya Iwakura, Gannibal is directed by Shinzo Katayama (Siblings on the Cape) and adapted for the screen by Best Adapted Screenplay Academy
