Dolly de Leon will be seen on TV and phone screens the world over when the Golden Globe Awards chooses its 2022 winners.

She's a nominee for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture for her role as a lowly toilet cleaner-turned-desert island amazon in Swedish filmmaker Ruben Östlund's Triangle of Sadness — the first Filipino to receive a nomination from the award-giving body composed of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

News of her nomination came on the same day the Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) gave her the Best Supporting Performance award for Triangle of Sadness.

The 80th Golden Globes will be hosted by Jerrod Carmichael and aired live from the Beverly Hilton on 10 January 2023.

The US-based International Press Academy likewise nominated De Leon as Best Supporting Actress at the 2022 Satellite Awards to be announced on 11 February 2023 in Los Angeles.

De Leon has also landed at No. 10 on Variety's predicted nominees list for Best Supporting Actress at the 95th Academy Awards on 28 March 2023.

Daily Tribune had a short chat with De Leon following news of her Golden Globes nomination and LAFCA victory.

Daily Tribune (DT): How did you take the news of your winning in LAFCA and the Golden Globes nomination on the same day? Were you overwhelmed?

Dolly de Leon (DDL): It's been an emotional experience, more than anything. The feeling of being overwhelmed, together with a mixture of emotions, like disbelief (I'm really not used to this kind of attention), extreme joy
(of being accepted) and pride (on behalf of every Pinoy).

DT: Did Rubén Ostlund ever revise the script, especially your parts? Is he like Lav Diaz, in the sense that the story in his mind evolves and he revises the script?

DDL: Constant revisions took place, even up to the day of filming. Ruben's concepts were never set in stone. He's a very resilient and open director.

DT: Tell us about your co-star Charlbi Dean. You said in earlier interviews that you developed a close friendship with her.

DDL: She was a good friend. Very sweet, caring, mild-mannered and thoughtful. She was also funny and quirky. She was one of a kind.

DT: Tell us about your new movie project in the US.

DDL: It's a film by Nathan Silver starring Jason Schwartzman and I play his stepmom.

DT: Any new projects locally?

DDL: Yes. Keys to the Heart, a movie written by Pam Miras, directed by Kerwin Go, produced by Reality Entertainment. And two Cinemalaya films: Iti Mapukpukaw written and directed by Carl Papa, and Duyan ng Magiting written and directed by Dustin Celestino.
