A four-storey residential building in Barangay Longos, Malabon City collapsed on Sunday which trapped a 22-year-old woman under fallen debris and injured two others.

Reports from the Bureau of Fire of Protection-National Capital Region, the trapped woman — identified as Ronalyn Tombukon — was rescued shortly before noon and was transported to the Ospital ng Malabon for treatment.

Authorities said she was conscious and did not suffer any severe fractures.

Malabon Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office head Roderick Tongol said that woman was asleep when the building collapsed at around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Malabon City Fire Marshal Supt. Josephus Alburo, on the other hand, said responders had difficulty rescuing the woman as the house was made of light materials.

The BFP reported that it received a call at 7 a.m. about a building collapse in Orchid St. and its personnel arrived at the area five minutes after.

It also reported two injuries.

Barangay Captain Angelika de la Cruz said they are prioritizing the evacuation of families in the area, as the situation remained unsafe.

"It looks like the building could still crumble and families near the area may be affected," De la Cruz said.
