The police already consider the Sofia Smith bomb threat to be "closed" following the filing of charges against those allegedly responsible before the Taguig City Prosecutor's Office.
The bomb hoax was traced to the Facebook account "Sofia Smith" found by investigators to belong to a female student of the school threatened with a bomb explosion weeks back.
Two of the suspects were a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old, both female. Also charged were Rizaldy, Jessa and Jessica, all surnamed Canto.
Police anti-cybercrime operatives endorsed the criminal complaints for violation of Republic Act 11479 or the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020, and Presidential Decree 1727, otherwise known as the law against the malicious dissemination of bomb-related information.
The accused were charged in relation to Section 6 of Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
The Canto family was held responsible by police probers for the bomb hoax leveled against a school in Signal Village, Taguig City last 7 November.
"We have been saying to all that bomb jokes have an accompanying penalty and jail time, thus we are asking people not to do so as we want to make sure the public is well protected," Southern Police District director Brig. General Kirby John Brion Kraft warned.
