CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The Police Regional Office 3 and the Department of the Interior and Local Government recently kicked off the Buhay Ingatan, Droga'y Ayawan or BIDA program of the Pampanga Police Provincial Office here.
Regional director P/Brig Gen. Cesar Pasiwen said that the program is a nationwide anti-illegal drugs advocacy program involving local government units, national government agencies, and other key sectors of society.
It will focus more on drug demand reduction and rehabilitation in the communities underscoring the role of drug enforcement agencies including the Philippine National Police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, National Bureau of Investigation and others.
Pasiwen said that the public is being encouraged to become advocates of its "BIDA" anti-drug program to help put an end to the country's illegal drugs problem.
The activity was participated in by DILG 3 assistant regional director Jay E. Timbreza, Pampanga DILG provincial director Myra Moral-Soriano, personnel of PRO3, 3rd Regional Mobile Force Battalion, Provincial Headquarters, Pampanga Police Provincial Office, San Fernando City Police Station, Pampanga PDEA, Pampanga Bureau of Fire Protection, the local government unit of San Fernando,
KASIMBAYANAN coordinators and members of Advocacy Support Groups and force multipliers.
In other developments, the local government of Cagayan de Oro City also launched its BIDA program for the Northern Mindanao leg.
Councilor Romeo Calizo said the previous administration's anti-drug policy resulted in 23 out of 80 villages being declared drug-free.
BIDA was also launched at the Quezon Memorial Circle, Quezon City; Cebu Plaza Independencia, Cebu City; and People's Park in Davao City.
