The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology is expecting aftershocks from a magnitude 5 earthquake that jolted Dalupiri Island in Calayan, Cagayan on Monday afternoon, 7 November.
Phivolcs said the tremor, tectonic in origin, had a depth of 14 kilometers. Its epicenter was located at 19.12°N, 121.20°E – 001 km N 25° W of Dalupiri Island at 1:34 p.m.
Phivolcs recorded Intensity V (strong) in Calayan, Cagayan; Intensity IV (moderately strong) in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte; and Intensity III (weak) in Luna, Apayao and Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte.
Meanwhile, residents of Lal-lo, Buguey, Lasam, and Peñablanca, Cagayan "slightly felt" the earthquake.
Instrumental intensities were also recorded in Claveria, Cagayan, and Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte at Intensity III, while Intensity II in Peñablanca, Cagayan, and Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
Phivolcs said Intensity I in Gonzaga in Cagayan, Batac City in Ilocos Norte, and Sinait in Ilocos Sur.
No damage has so far been recorded due to the earthquake.
