Xiumin is working on a new image.

"As I am officially releasing a solo album, I'm nervous and excited. I think this will become a turning point for me to grow to another level. Like the album name 'Brand New,' I'm working to showcase a new image," the Exo member said during the online press conference for the album's release.

Brand New – The 1st Mini Album marks Xiumin's solo debut since he debuted with EXO in 2012. It is also among his first projects after serving in the military, a requirement for men in South Korea.
"As this first solo album wholly captures my tastes, it's meaningful to me, and I call it a 'gift' out of hopes that it will become an album that makes you feel good about meeting my new image," said Xiumin, speaking to his fans.

His sentiments are reflected in the music video of "Brand New."

As Xiumin explained: "I play two roles: Someone who delivers the gift and the gift itself. It will be fun to compare those two characters."

The 32-year-old K-pop idol also expressed his desire to spend time with other EXO members, saying, "It feels like it's been a long time since we've been on stage together. I miss it so much."

The Brand New press conference was hosted by his co-member Sehun.
