Villar: If ‘GG’ too expensive, eat veggies

Senator Cynthia Villar today advised consumers not to buy and eat galunggong if they find it too expensive.

She said there are so many alternatives in the market and urged the public to buy vegetables.

Villar, who chairs the Senate Agriculture Committee, attributed the price increases of commodities to the Christmas season.

She urged the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and it price control teams to guard against overpricing.

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources is looking into the

possibility of importing galunggong to address the shortage of the supply of the said fish in the country.

Galunggong had been in the past dubbed as the poor man’s fish.
