A year after bringing the pastel-hued elegance of Paris to the Philippines, the Ladurée flagship in Bonifacio Global City is celebrating its first anniversary with a visionary new addition to its kitchen.
As Southeast Asia’s first Ladurée flagship, the boutique has quickly become a cornerstone of Metro Manila’s luxury dining scene. Having sold more than 600,000 of its signature macarons, the maison has proven the local appetite for authentic, world-class French pastry.
Now, Ladurée Philippines is embarking on an ambitious new chapter by naming acclaimed Filipino chef Sau Del Rosario as its culinary director.
Del Rosario brings decades of culinary expertise to the storied brand, deeply informed by the years he spent living and refining his craft in Paris. This firsthand immersion into French culinary traditions makes him uniquely equipped to harmonize the palate of the Filipino diner with a heritage that has defined Ladurée for more than 160 years.
His appointment marks a refined evolution for the menu, ensuring the dining experience remains deeply rooted in authentic Parisian luxury while continuing to surprise and delight its patrons.
“Ladurée is one of those rare brands whose heritage speaks for itself,” Del Rosario said. “Having spent time in Paris and experienced its culinary culture firsthand, it’s an honor to help continue that tradition here in Manila. My role is to build on Ladurée’s remarkable foundation by creating dishes and experiences that encourage guests to discover something new while staying true to the spirit that has made the brand beloved.”
This transition comes at a pivotal moment for the brand's local footprint. Karan Gopwani, founder and CEO of Gastronova Hospitality Group, noted that the inaugural year was dedicated to building trust and introducing the maison's uncompromising craftsmanship to the country. With Del Rosario at the helm, a broader, more dynamic vision takes flight.
The brand is now expanding its presence across multiple formats.
Beyond the BGC flagship, Ladurée is venturing into bespoke catering, private events, and more accessible lifestyle spaces. Upcoming milestones include the launch of Southeast Asia’s first Ladurée travel retail boutique at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3, alongside a contemporary cafe concept at SM Megamall designed to capture a younger demographic.
Through these new avenues, Ladurée aims to weave its exquisite Parisian charm seamlessly into the everyday lives of more Filipinos.
