The rare white Philippine long-tailed macaque spotted in a forest in Sitio Tudog, Barangay Bugso, Senator Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudarat on 1 July 2026 could soon become an attraction as locals now know where it can be seen and at what time.
“Residents say it comes out every 6 a.m.,” municipal tourism officer Belshazaao Hibaler told GMA News, which reported the sighting of the albino monkey with a video showing it atop a tree.
The video was taken by John Danda, a tour guide from the indigenous community, and he shared it to staff of the municipal tourism office.
The Philippine long-tailed macaque (Macaca fascicularis philippensis) is endemic in the country. The subspecies of the long-tailed or crab-eating macaque is found in local forests and woodlands, especially mangrove areas in Palawan, the Visayas and Mindanao.
