PLDT kept its unbeaten record intact after adding to Akari’s woes in a 25-22, 25-27, 25-21, 25-15 victory in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference Thursday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
Five High Speed Hitters finished in double figures on offense, highlighting the team’s balanced scoring to string three wins in a row in as many outings.
Savi Davison led PLDT with 16 kills for an 18-point output she spiked with eight excellent receptions. Kim Kianna Dy and Majoy Baron added 14 points each while Mika Reyes and rookie Alleiah Malaluan finished with 10 points each for the High Speed Hitters.
Defensively, PLDT remained consistent at the net, pulling off 13 kill blocks with Baron at the helm after accounting for seven of the team’s output in the blocking department.
Veteran libero Kath Arado also frustrated the Chargers’ attackers with 26 digs 10 excellent receptions.
The High Speed Hitters recovered from a second set meltdown with a strong fightback in the third frame.
PLDT was in full control of the fourth set after building a 19-10 separation that effectively took the resistance out of Akari.
“We just reminded them of the system that we run. That we need to have many varieties in our attacks and at the same time adjust to what the middles and wings of Akari are doing,” High Speed Hitters coach Rald Ricafort said.
Rhose Dapol played clutch in the second frame off the bench, scoring crucial hits for the Chargers in the tightly contested extended frame.
A Dapol hit followed by a Jyne Soreno kill put Akari at set point, 24-22. PLDT tied at 24 before Dapol smashed a kill for the Chargers second set point advantage.
The High Speed Hitters again equalized as Dapol scored another kill before Fifi Sharma shut the door on Davison to tie the match.
PLDT unleashed a 10-2 run in the third set, erasing a 14-18 deficit to take a 24-20 advantage after a Baron kill.
Malaluan committed an attack error in the next play but rebounded from the miscue with an easy dink off Akari’s misreception for a 2-1 match advantage.
Grethcel Soltones scored 16 points — all from kills — and added 13 digs but her effort wasn’t enough to save the Chargers from absorbing a third straight defeat to remain the lone winless team in the season-ending tournament.
