
Officials of Local Goverment Units (LGUs) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the DepEd that aims to build more classrooms.
Central Luzon is set to create more educational facilities thru the DepEd-LGU Program that aims to boost the educational sector of the region.
During a ceremony led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., officials of Local Goverment Units (LGUs) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the DepEd that aims to build more classrooms.
Under the agreement, the LGUs are allowed to utilized the funds for the construction and maintenance of the classrooms.
This will expedite the construction of a stronger, safer, and orderly facilities for the students as part of the thrust of President Marcos' administration in addressing the inadequate number of classrooms in the country.
The program is based on the 2026 National Budget that was approved by the President, wherein DepEd will turn over the funds for the construction of classrooms to the LGUs to ensure a speedy and organized implementation of the project, especially on far-flung areas.
Nueva Ecija Governor Aurelio Umali was among the signatories of the MOA, citing that the agreement shows the continuous support of the Provincial Government in ensuring a better future for the Novo Ecijano youth.
Zambales Board Member Rundy Ebdane, filling in for Governor Hermogenes E. Ebdane Jr. during the ceremony, said that the MOA will providd much needed classrooms in the province of Zambales.
The program aims to construct 4,000 new classrooms in the region as part of the 145,000 classroom backlog, with an initial tranche ₱9.6 bilyon for 1,200 classrooms and 2,800 pre-fabricated classrooms, supported by tve 2026 GAA worth ₱85.39 billion for Basic Education Facilities.
