EEI Corporation has opened a new training complex in Tanza, Cavite, expanding its investment in workforce development as demand for skilled labor continues to grow in the construction sector.

The newly inaugurated EEI Training Academy spans nearly three hectares and can accommodate up to 500 trainees at a time. During the opening ceremony, the facility received its Certificate of TVET Program Registration, formally recognizing it as a training and assessment center accredited by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

Company officials said the academy is a long-term initiative to strengthen the capabilities of EEI’s Filipino workforce while supporting operational efficiency and sustainability goals.

“The Academy reflects our vision to not only attract the best talent, but also to nurture and retain them. EEI will continue to drive change and improvement in the Philippine construction industry by providing necessary training to elevate the skills of our workforce. While we are known to be experts at building physical foundations, we are equally committed to establishing a strong foundation for our human capital,” said EEI Training Academy President Jesus Teodoro C. Reyes.

The facility will offer hands-on workshops in welding, civil works and modular construction for mechanical and electrical projects. Civil works courses include carpentry, masonry, tile setting and rebar installation. Mechanical programs cover mechanical fitting, millwright services, tank fitting for storage and pressure vessels, as well as structural and steel works.

Additional modules will focus on welding technology, electrical and instrumentation systems, rigging, pipe fitting, plumbing, scaffolding, painting, tinsmithing and heavy equipment operations.

Beyond technical instruction, the academy will integrate values formation into its curriculum.

“We believe that values formation is an essential part of the EEI Training Academy that will ultimately lead to improved and better performance at work, harmonious relationships in the workplace, and an important element in developing the well-being of our employees,” Reyes added.

Programs are also available for professional staff and supervisors, including courses in construction and project management, safety training, communication, decision-making, problem-solving and other self-development areas.

As a TESDA-accredited center, the academy will follow national training regulations, ensuring competency-based instruction, standardized assessment and compliance with occupational standards. TESDA oversight requires qualified trainers and properly equipped facilities to maintain program quality.

“We recognize that capacity-building is fundamental to sustaining excellence in construction. By continuously enhancing the skills of our workforce, we ensure that we remain adaptive, innovative, and competitive in a rapidly evolving industry. Through the Academy, we empower our people, build resilience within the organization, and secure a strong foundation for long-term growth,” said EEI Training Academy Vice President Victor C. Evidente.

The complex includes the Jaime V. Ongpin Building for administrative offices and conference rooms, the two-story Saint Joseph Building with lecture halls and a chapel, a multi-purpose hall, trainee barracks, recreational areas, a warehouse and a material recovery facility.
