Severe storms can instantly change the landscape into a lake.
During torrential rains in Sydney, Australia, on 17 January, cars were not the only things seen floating on flooded roads. Local Craig Finniss videoed a spectacle at the waterlogged Palm Beach Golf Course, Channel News Asia (CNA) reported.
After posting the video on social media, it went viral, as the man shown swimming across the sunken green amused netizens.
On 14 January, the transformation of a beach in England began, a belated offshoot of storms on 8 January.
The coastline of East Sussex was blanketed with bags of onions and uncooked French fries coming from containers that strong waves sent tumbling out of two cargo ships.
Among those who turned up to pick the plastic bags were Eastbourne town resident Joel Bonnici and his partner, who were hiking when they stumbled on the mess.
“Like everyone has been doing to help out, we were picking up the last of the onion bags as we went. We did not expect to turn the corner and see a new scene of chips (French fries) and chip bags stretching across the beach toward the lighthouse,” he said, CNN reported.
An initial 1.9 tons of waste were collected from the beach, Brighton and Hove City Council said in a post on Facebook on 16 January, according to CNN.
