A Venezuelan guard has claimed that US forces deployed a powerful and unfamiliar weapon during the raid that led to the capture of President Nicolás Maduro, causing soldiers to bleed from the nose and vomit blood, according to an account shared online by the White House press secretary.
In a dramatic testimony posted Saturday, the guard said American forces overwhelmed Venezuelan defenders during the 3 January operation without suffering any casualties. He alleged that US troops used advanced technology that disabled radar systems, deployed swarms of drones, and introduced what he described as a devastating sonic or energy-based weapon.
“We were on guard, but suddenly all our radar systems shut down without any explanation,” the guard said. “The next thing we saw were drones, a lot of drones, flying over our positions. We didn’t know how to react.”
He said a small number of helicopters deployed roughly 20 US troops, who he claimed were “technologically very advanced” compared to Venezuelan forces.
“We were hundreds, but we had no chance,” he said. “They were shooting with such precision and speed; it felt like each soldier was firing 300 rounds per minute.”
The most alarming moment, he said, came when US forces launched an unknown weapon.
“At one point, they launched something; I don’t know how to describe it,” he said. “It was like a very intense sound wave. Suddenly I felt like my head was exploding from the inside.”
“We all started bleeding from the nose,” he added. “Some were vomiting blood. We fell to the ground, unable to move. We couldn’t even stand up after that sonic weapon — or whatever it was.”
The Venezuelan Interior Ministry has said about 100 security personnel were killed in the attack, though it remains unclear whether any deaths were directly linked to the alleged weapon.
A former US intelligence source told the New York Post that the symptoms described could be consistent with directed-energy weapons, which have existed for years but may not have been publicly acknowledged as combat-deployed by the US.
“I can’t say all of those symptoms. But yes, some,” the source said. “And we’ve had versions for decades.”
The White House has not confirmed the authenticity of the account. The guard said the raid has sent shockwaves across the region.
“I’m sending a warning to anyone who thinks they can fight the United States,” he said. “They have no idea what they’re capable of.”
