The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is anticipating a record influx of 4.6 million passengers through its ports during the peak Christmas and New Year holiday season, with all frontline personnel on 100 percent readiness to handle the surge.
In a statement, the PPA disclosed that it expects this volume to pass through its governed ports between 15 December 2025 and 5 January 2026.
PPA general manager Jay Santiago said this projected number is an increase of 200,000 passengers compared to the 4.4 million recorded during the same period in 2024.
To ensure efficient service, Santiago announced a strict “no leave” order for all frontline and operations personnel to cater to the needs of travelers during this high-volume period.
“We are very confident that our personnel in all terminals are very ready, unless there are weather disturbances,” Santiago said. “Other than that, we are ready and our security is on heightened alert, particularly our port police, in coordination with the Philippine National Police-Maritime Group and the Philippine Coast Guard.”
