Shell Lubricants has again been named the world’s biggest seller of finished lubricants, holding the top spot for the 19th straight year, based on the latest study by Kline & Company.

The ranking comes from the 23rd edition of Kline’s Global Lubricants market report for 2025. Kline bases its list on finished lubricants sales volumes across both automotive and industrial segments worldwide. In the report, Shell posted an 11.6 percent global market share.

Kline’s breakdown also shows how Shell’s 2024 global sales were spread across major categories. Consumer automotive accounted for 37 percent. Industrial took 32 percent. Commercial automotive made up 31 percent.

The report looks at a wide range of products and industries. It reviews finished lubricants used in automotive and industrial settings. It also tracks shifts tied to newer technologies, including electric vehicles and immersion cooling fluids used in digital and energy infrastructure.

Kline said Shell kept its number one spot across all three major categories in the study. These are consumer automotive, commercial automotive, and industrial.

Jason Wong, global executive vice president of Shell Lubricants, said the company is still focused on how lubricants support consumer, commercial and industrial uses.

He added that Shell continues to invest in premium, high-efficiency products as part of its customer focus.

Kline also pointed to consistency as a big part of the story. Sushmita Dutta, a senior project manager at Kline, said staying number one for 19 straight years is a rare feat.

Shell’s lineup spans both everyday drivers and heavy industries. The company cited products such as Shell Advance for motorcycles, Shell Helix for passenger cars, Shell Rimula for trucks and heavy-duty engines, and industrial lines like Shell Tellus and Shell Gadus.

Recent updates were also highlighted in the release. Shell said Shell Helix Ultra moved to the latest API SQ specifications in 2025.

It also launched Shell Advance Ultra with API SP, which it described as its most advanced motorcycle and scooter engine oil. Shell also noted that the product is recommended by Ducati Corse.

On the motorsport side, Shell said it renewed its partnership with BMW M Motorsport. The company framed the tie-up as part of its work on lubricant technology and performance.

In the Philippines, Shell Pilipinas Corporation said it continues to operate through its mobility station network, business partnerships, and non-fuels offerings. It also cited community programs under the Pilipinas Shell Foundation Inc., including support in areas such as education, health, safety and livelihood.
